offering a small essay

Salvete!

I mentioned this earlier on the Historicum forum, but it may also be of interest here in the Militarium.

I have recently translated some course notes from university, and they have been transformed into a small essay I would like to offer here in the collegium:

"AN EXAMPLE OF QUANTITATIVE HISTORIOGRAPHY AND ITS PROBLEMS: Military expenses of the emperors based on literature and papyri.
1. Soldier’s pay in the first and second century
2. New pay raises under Severus and Caracalla.
3. An example of a stipendium on papyrus (Chartae Latinae Antiquiores n° 495)"

The essay can be found at
http://www.geocities.com/consulromanus/ ... tions.html

Enjoy!
