Trajan's Column Unwrapped

Postby Quintus Servilius Priscus on Wed Jan 10, 2007 3:59 am

Here's a site that show what Trajan's Column would look like laid out straight and flat. This link is from another Roman group(NOT Nova Roma):

Gratias ago, clarissime vir...

...I was looking for a good coloring-book!

** dashes off to fetch his crayons...err...paint software. Yes. That's it. Paint software. **

Gleefully,

Salve Mi Prisce!

That indeed is an impressive find. This is a great learning resource. When I was in the Urbs Aeterna in 2003 I literally stared at the column for hours. So much history in one opus! I remember being frustrated that I couldn't see the work at the top so I bought a lower power pair of binoculars (quite a price in Rome these days!) and used those to see detail. No need for binocs any more! Amazing! Thanks for sharing!

This is impossibly cool! Anyone have any ideas on how to print it out?

Save That Space!

Postby Aldus Marius on Wed Jan 10, 2007 8:31 pm

Salve, mi Tergeste!

Go to the page.
Click on "File-->Save As..."
It will save as "Colonne Trajana.htm"
For file format, leave it at "Web Page, complete"
Go do something else while it's saving.
---
Come back in about five minutes or so. (There're 115 images on that page.)
Go to whichever folder / directory you saved it in.
You will see the "Colonne Trajana.htm" file.
You will also see a matching folder called "Colonne Trajana_files".
The piccies are inside that folder. They'll be .gifs, .jpgs, .bmps or whatever. Handle the same way as any image files of that type.
---
Enjoy! >({|:-)

Salve, atque maxime gratias tibi, Quinte Servilii Prisce -

This is wonderful! I've only seen fragments before! At last....

Y les autres chose du site sont bonnes, aussi.
