#4 Herodotos (three historians - not bad for a History student!)
#5 Iuvenalis (no idea why this one comes in here...)

A bit low for this good historian...

I don't know all these people (sigh... I really don't, but as I'm planning to write about writers, this should change) except Vergilius. And I'm happy that vergilius is low in my list. I really hate that man! Was it asked too much to write some understandable Latin?
And I really also do hate Homeros... All those louzy epics...

Sorry, just trying to kick some secondary school-frustrations away!

While I share your dislike for Vergilius, I think you're going to get Hellenos all over you on Homeros. Personally, I think he's still one of the best writers of Western history... !

Hmmm....

Although something can be said about bombastic elements Homeros is nowhere nearly as bombastic as Cicero in his speeches. It depends on what parts you read of the Ilias and Odysseia, too. The style is visually beautiful and Homeros shows a good insight in the workings of a human psyche. His depiction of war in all its aspects (heroism, cruelty, darkness, despair, madness, glory) is also surprisingly modern.

The Odysseia, on the other hand, is probably more influential in this era. A masterpiece like "Ulysses" would have never been written without the Odysseia so even if you don't like Homeros you should still thank him for that . Unless you dislike Joyce, too, of course. But then you'd be an utter BARBARIAN . j/k

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I'll ignore that comment on a Greek chariot driver. Damnator is as Roman as one can get. YOUR driver, on the other hand, is Punic!
