Roman Tunnels

Salvete Omnes,

I read in some novel (don't even recall which one it was, most probably one of those thousands of mysteries set in Ancient Rome) that there was a tunnel in the Cumae/Misenum area used as a street like nowadays to make a short cut thru a mountain instead of building the long way around it.

Because I was mentioning it recently at the chat of this German speaking forum I need some information on it preferably a web site. If any one of you knows what I mean and knows a website or some other source I'd be pleased if you let me know.

Thanks in advance for your kind help.
