Salvete,

I just read a small article stating that a Roman town had been found beneath a farmhouse in Gloucestershire. They don't know the name of the town yet, but appearantly they have already uncovered a city gate, a city road and several buildings. There was nothing else in the article though.

Does anyone know more about this ? Is there a link to a more elaborate article ?

Salve Lupe,

I also read it today in a newspaper, but it was only a small article. I believe that they discovered it because they'd been digging up pottery shards and coins in the whereabouts for years, and naturally this alarmed some archeologists and historians ;).

Avete amici!

It may have been a small article...but to have been hiding a whole city underneath it, it must've been a BIG farmhouse!

(That, or the farmhouse is merely a gateway to an extradimensional space big enough to hold a city...) >({|;-P

Far out. Perhaps the Romans used it to colonise space.

The article said the city might have had a population of 10 000.

Salvete,

Here's a link to the story, not a whole lot of new information (though they mention a possible population of thousand, not ten thousand, Draco), but it has a picture !

They may have thought about it.

Lucretius wrote
"Iit is in the highest degree unlikely that this earth and sky is the only one to have been created and that all those particles are accomplishing nothing."
