Postby Publius Dionysius Mus on Wed Jul 30, 2003 11:03 pm

PRAETORIAL EDICT : Procedure for the removal of inactive members.

This edict sets out the exact procedure to be followed by the praetores for the removal of inactive members, as determined by our Regula Fundamentalis I,7.

When, according to Regula Fundamentalis I,7, the censores have passed on to the praetores the name(s) of that/those members who are considered inactive, with said aediles having followed the exact procedure as stipulated in Regula Fundamentalis I,7, then the praetores shall take the following actions in order to remove (an) inactive member(s) :

1. Each member considered inactive according to Regula Fundamentalis I,7, shall be dealt with individually.

2. The inactive member shall receive a standard notification message (praetorial arbitrium - see 4) informing him/her of the removal from the Societas Via Romana and its memberlist. This message shall be sent through e-mail, through our forum’s PM-system, and through a topic on the Comitia-forum.

3. In this message, the inactive member shall also be informed of his/her right of provocatio, as determined in our Regula Fundamentalis III,2,e.

4. The standard notification message shall be as follows:
« <name> et <name> praetores <name> salutem. We, the praetores of the Societas Via Romana, hereby regretfully announce that you will be removed from our memberlist. After having been notified of your inactive status by the censores, the praetores have decided to terminate your membership, all according to Regula Fundamentalis I,7. However, if you feel that this decision has been made incorrectly, you have the right of provocatio before the Comitia as determined in Regula Fundamentalis III,2,e within a year for a revision of your case. If you wish to return to the Societas Via Romana as a member, this is possible through the normal application process. We would also like to inform you that you still have access to the SVR forum. Optamus tibi bene valere. <name> et <name> »

5. Two weeks after the sending of notification, if the member (sodalis) has declined to continue his or her membership or has not responded, the praetores will turn over the name of an inactive member to the censors for removal from the member list of the Societas Via Romana.

This edict becomes effective immediately.

Done on the 30th of July, under the consulship of M. Moravius Horatianus Piscinus and T. Pomponius Atticus.
