Collegial elections

Postby Horatius Piscinus on Wed May 07, 2003 1:34 pm

Salvete Sodales omnes

Elections for rectores of all collegia will be held early this year. I hope to have the elections in the first week of June. But first I would like some volunteers to act as my scribae consularis. Your duties will be as rogatores for the various collegia and you will be under the supervision of our elected Rogatores Mencius and Ursus. At least two individuals are needed for each collegium to count the votes. Current rectores, prorectores, and potential candidates for rectores may volunteer However you cannot act as a rogator in the particular collegium that you hold office or seek office. If you intend to run for a rectorship you must so inform me when you volunteer for this duty. Anyone who wishes may also act as rogator for more than one collegium, and should so inform me as well.

Those who wish to volunteer as scribae consularis should contact me at ai952@acorn.net

Salvete sodales,

I hereby announce my candidacy for the position of rector Collegii Latini. I have studied Latin for six years and have already contributed to the teaching material at our site. I believe revitalising ColLat to teach more Latin, but also to go beyon this and make attempts at serious linguistic essays, is my essential task if I get elected.

My other qualifications: I am currently Aedilis and have been Censor for 1,5 year. I've also served two terms as rector of Collegium Philosophicum. In non-administrative sense I'm iurisconsultus and praeceptor as well.

Chairete sas,

as some of you might know, I travelled all the way from Greece to see the great Collegium Graecum that all of the ancient world talks about, for if I was lieïng, you wouldn't call me 'Hellenos'. I would like to bring my insights to the Great Collegium, by taking office in it as rector.
My current studies in Classical Filology, in which I study both ancient tongues and starting from oktober, Modern Greek too. I am also very up to date, reading a lot of course litterature (magazines) aswell as the writings of the ancients. Through electronic writings I keep in touch with the Modern Greek and Byzantin section of the University of Amsterdam and by regular visits the Latin and Greek sections of the University of Ghent.
I also pay regular visits to 'The Greek House' where the Antwerp Greek comminity resides. This enclave is my favourate place in these parts. Furthermore as a Hellenologist-to-be I hope to make a big contibution to your center of knowledge.

Collegium Philosophicum

Salvete!

I volunteer for the position of rector of the Collegium Philosophicum. As I always stated, my interest lay in philosophy (rather than in e.g. religion).

My CV: I'm Belgian, 20 years old, and I already have served as Consul iunior, Aedilis Maior and prorector of the collegium Militarium, Graecum and Latinum (until a suitable candidate turned up  ). Now I am censor. Thus I hope to be suitable for the collegium philosophicum.

Valete!

Salvete omnes,

I would hereby like to announce my candidacy for the office of rector Collegii Militarii. As a current student of Greek and Latin at the university of Ghent I'm almost constantly in touch with the material and ever since reading the first two books of "De Bello Gallico" (in Latin) I'm even more impressed with the achievements of Rome (and Greece as well) on this area. I'm also planning to read Poluainos' "Stratègèmata" this summer ! ;-)

Salvete,

I would like to announce my candidacy for the position of Rector for Collegium Artium.

I am an amateur writer (In that none of my work is good enough to get published!), and I'm also active in the Collegium. If I become Rector, I hope to expand the Roleplay, and to organise other activities that will allow us all to better appreciate the works of the Muses (and each other).

Publius Dionysius Mus omnibus salutem

I hereby announce my candidacy for the position of rector of Collegium Historicum.

I have founded this Collegium back in the beginning (just after the Big Bang, hehe), and I have lead it since. My main qualification is that I am a History student, next year specializing in classical history. I hope I can continue to lead this Collegium for the next year.

Salvete omnes,

**Curio shouts from the rostrum**

Now see this, quirites! My good friend Draco seems to have picked up some bad habits from other places, including deliberately misinterpreting other peoples' words for his own devious political ends!

**Curio turns to Draco**

Amice, I meant we could appreciate each others' works - and if photography is what you like to appreciate, then you're at the wrong place.

(warning; this is tongue in cheek so don't take it all too seriously, lest someone appeals to our praetores - I see, in the corner, Tergestus and Mus wringing their hands at the opportunity of trying someone ;)).

Curio,

It is fairly obvious that you are trying to coopt me into some sort of secret faction which is bent on taking over Societas Via Romana and turning it into some sort of - gasps - GREEK thing! I would like to sincerely ask you to address your superiors and peers with some more respect next time.

Even if we are dealing with porn! Wait. Scrap that last word.

Dixi!

PS: VOTE DRACO for ColLat. It'll be that or abstaining... and we don't want abstentions, do we? ;)

[color=purple]Marcus Moravius Horatianus sodalibus SPD: Habete animum bonum

At this time I wish to announce my candidacy as Rector of the Collegium Religionis.

Previously I have had the honor of being SVR's second Rector at Collegium Religionis, as well as Pontifex Maximus, Praeceptor for the Religio Romana, and de facto Augur for the Senate. In addition I was given the honor to be SVR's first consul, and am now serving in that office once more (However do I get talked into such things?)

My own focus has been primarily on the Religio Romana, as any visit to our website will show. I will be continuing to write for Collegium Religionis' website. There is far too many articles there by one person, however, so I will also be continuing to encourage others to write, and especially on other faiths besides that of the Religio Romana.

Salvete omnes,

A trial? What an excellent idea. It might wake everyone up amidst the splendor of the elections. :-D Draco, didn't you once get my age a year out? Praetores, this man has slandered me!! (Entirely tongue in cheek, and not a bit serious.)

Taking over the SVR? Turning it into **Equally horrified gasp** a Greek thing? Mi Draco, do you not remember my descriptions of myself? A Romano-Saxon-Celtic hybrid. And if you go by blood, then I have English, Scottish, Czech, Slovak, German, Austrian, French, Scandinavian, Polish, and Hebrew blood. But I have no Greek ancestry, and I have interests in several other civilisations before the Greeks. (Damn, just lost myself several votes). So surely I would turn the SVR into almost any organisation before a Greek one? Quirites, first this man lies about my age, then about my intentions when I take over the SVR? I mean, um, if I take over the SVR, of course. Do not listen to this man's filthy slander.

But do vote for him for Rector of Col Lat. :-D

Chairete Héllenoi kaì Rómanoi,

for we call ouselves Héllenoi, Greeks is something the Romans invented because they ADORE our culture. Now we Héllenoi appreciate the Romanoi too, truely. My friend and -as it happens- Píndaros compares all of you to our, let us be honest, rather nationalist people.
f~iloi, fellow scholars, if you want to be a professor, you have to be just a little nuts. So let's give our friend here just this tiny little space for his -probably incestues- flaws. After all, we call thém Bárbaroi too don't we
