Chat session?

Postby Gnaeus Dionysius Draco on Sun Jun 01, 2003 11:23 am

Salvete commilitones,

How about a "celebratory" chat session next weekend? I propose June 8, 22h00 Rome time. Does anyone know the corresponding American times? I'll do a mass mailing later then to inform all our forum members that they're expected to drop by ;).

Chaîre Drakon,

do you want to discuss ancient history with the actors who played Ben Hur and Spartacus? Or am I completely not understanding what you are saying.

Khaire Aleksandros
Draco meant by celebratory chat session that all members of SVr and of the forum are going to the chatroom of SVR and chat with eachother to celebrate the birthday of SVR.

thats okay, we all made mistakes in the past, some more than others.
There is no need to delete it, because there is much to learn of our mistakes like not doing it again.

Salvete Romani (and Greek Hoplites  ),

I think we are getting off-topic here.

So the proposed day is June 8 22h, in America this would be 14h (Eastcoast), 15 (West of Eastcoast), 16h (Central US) and 17h (East of Westcoast).

I could be mistaking, so if any American members could verify these hours and let me know if they are correct, I would be very thankful.

The Britannicus returns

Postby Curio Agelastus on Mon Jun 02, 2003 9:16 pm

Salvete,

I should be able to turn up next week. Last exams this week. So I am of course frantically doing last-minute revision.

**Curio walks out, wondering if he should be an honourable Roman legionary, or a more accurate hybrid who happens to be fairly adept with a quarterstaff.**

:-D

American Hours for Chat

Postby Aldus Marius on Tue Jun 03, 2003 1:33 am

Cari Romani:

We've got the Sun moving in the wrong direction over the North American continent. Anywhere 'west of East' will be earlier,, not later than, the East Coast itself. So Ami chat hours are as follows:
~ Maine (Roma -7) - 1500 hours
~ Eastern Time Zone (Roma -8) - 1400 hours
~ Central Time (Roma -9) - 1300 hours
~ Mountain Time (Roma -10) - 1200 hours
~ Pacific Time (Roma -11) - 1100 hours
~ Hawaii (Roma -13) - 0900 hours

I, btw, shall be quite unable to attend. I have 'Net access only through my public library at present, and the firewall for their network won't let me through. (There are things I could do about this, but they would likely result in Large Trouble if I were to be caught. I choose to forego any such pleasures.) >({|;-p

OTOH, I see I've made Optio...and been recognized by Commander Draco as one of the SVR's resident Storytellers. (Wolfie likes head-pats. Wolfie's a good boy!)

I don't want to destroy your dreams mi Mari but it was Piscinus who wrote that. Although I share his opinion :D.

Salvete Romani,

It seems that Marius and I made a mistake with the timezones. By this mistake our amici Tergestus, Marius and Teresia were in the chat room at the wrong times. I sincerely apologise for this and will check the times better next time.

Other than this mistake, I think everyone had a pleasant time!

Until next time!

Salvete Draco et sodales omnes

And Ericius, and I... You were only two hours off. New York and the East Coast, all the way over to Ohio, is only 6 hours behind Rome. Wolfies were never good at telling time. But this did lead to a little chat among our American sodales.

Perhaps we can arrange for this more often. Any sodales wish to choose a time and day when it would be convenient to regularly meet for chats? Saturdays at 10PM Rome=4PM NY is a good time for Americans and Europeans to meet. But we could also arrange hemispheric chat sessions as well. Say 9PM Wednesdays EDT for those in the Western hemisphere, Canada to the tip of Argentina

Chaírete sas,

a bit chaotic, and almost turning into a contemporary music chat , but other than that it was nice. I'm certainly up for more! I did keep a word-copy of it, to re-read the chaotic parts I missed. And to have proof of all the hubris! Remember, the edicts of the gens Dionysia are firm and dicisive! Romule, you claim to have allready won the elections, but what good is that if your head rolls by the hand of the army of Cnaeus. And Curio, you are on the black list!
I will not post the text here, for I have done to much of an effort giving everyone a color, so it ain't that chaotic anymore :P, but one is always free to ask a copy. :D

Salvete

It has been quite a while since we last tried to schedule a chat. Is anyone still visiting our confabularium, and if so when?

Salve mi Piscine,

I can try and visit the Confab sometime between 9:00 and 11:00 PM GMT at times, if that's good for you?
