Salve Piscine,

Sounds like a good idea to me, I'm sure everyone here can ask questions that others won't know, so it looks like a good way to learn some trivia or inspire a discussion on a topic.

just one more thing:

Whose last words allegedly were "Applaud; the comedy is over."? Augustus.

In Latin this is "Plaudite; Acta est fabula", but why do you translate as "comedy" ? I would rather say "play" instead

Salve Curio,

My guess is that, like SPQR means "The Senate and the People of Rome", this would mean "The Senate and the People of the Colony of Ostia", but there are others here that have more knowledge about inscriptions, Mus, Attice ?

Salve Coruncani,

Each member will normally keep the same voter code year after year, unless one of the censores would like to change all voter codes.

Sorry for the late reply, I couldn't access the computer since Saturday.

Salve Garrule,

Carlo Ginzburg's Ecstasies: Deciphering the Witches' Sabbath

Somewhat unrelated, but isn't Ginzburg the author of so called micro-storia ? Would you recommend him ?

Salvete,

Like most Belgae, Dutch as a mother language, English and French at a reasonable level and a bit of German. I started with Italian as well this year and I'll throw in Latin and ancient Greek as well

Salvete, I'll see if I can come up with a translation, though it could take a while, there's a 10-day party going on in Ghent, de "Gentse Feesten" for all belgae ;-)

Salve Aule,

Nothing to worry about, there are quite some students here dealing with exams in this period and spare time can be very rare. I've been busy with exams ever since April, though the end is finally near, monday will be the last day of exams ! 8)
