I don't think Civ2 was playable by email. Civ3 is though, but I have no idea how to play it that way.

What version of civ3 do you have? I have Civ3 Complete Edition which includes Play the World and Conquests.

If people hare have civ3 complete, maybe I can put together an SVR scenario.

Ok, here is my game update. Best Buy was sold out of CivCity, so I bought Civ3 Complete Edition and have been playing a little with that. I miss the Civ2 interface big time. Iohannes, since you are on the NR mainlist, you might check the file library and see if the Nova Roma Civ2 Scenario is ...

Roman Themed Games

Years ago, Marius and I both enjoyed Roman themed computer games like Rome: Pathway to Power and Centurian. Those were the days when the 386 was something grand! I'm in the mood for some recreation and may go out tomorrow to buy a game called CivCity: Rome. It is part of the 'Civilization' seri...

"That means I get to be Uncle Marius for REAL!!! >({|8-) >({|8-) >({|8-) >({|8-) "

Ah, what a pity that Marius doesn't like children.

I have a feeling this will change once the newbie arrives! Congratulations!

Still here

Salvete Omnes, If I am pretty quiet right now, it is only because of being busy. One of the supervisors at work has just retired, and I have a 50/50 shot at getting promoted to the position, if I can beat the competition from other branches. I'm still here and checking the forums though! It ...

Sorry Marius, I missed this thread!

Well, I think I will go if I am not working that Saturday. Maybe my friend John would be interested in going. I'll check the office schedule and maybe we can meet at a certain spot.

And we'll get some pictures.

A legion is an interesting idea, but to be practicable, wouldn't the participants need to all live reasonably close together? And who would command or be the authority for enforcing the rules and authenticity standards within the group? I know Marius was a lone wolf reenactor, and we have the ...

I tend to agree with what has been said by Iohannes and Marius. I would a enjoy a realtime chat, but with with us being scatted in various timezones, this would be difficult. {And where is Iohannes anyway} I've posted about the SVR and MA and RS on a large Isiac forum, and who knows, the links ...

Thanks friends for the support and appreciation! It was worth the late nights. And thanks also for pointing out the misspellings and other little errors. I consider it very much an SVR site, maybr not "officially" but I hope the spirit is there.

With the Templvm Isidis up and running, now I can go to bed a little earlier and practice my guitar! Next on my plate is getting through the source material for a Mons Aventinus article on the Greazceo-Roman Isis, which I hape to have by the New Year. Mons Aventinus---I have to confess I have be...

The TEMPLVM ISIDIS is Open!

Check out the new Temple of Isis at http://www.geocities.com/templvmisidis/index.html This one is vastly improved over the original Templvm Isidis which went online in 2002 and was taken down in 04. And you can even contribute your own Isian and Roman graphic art and poems/hymns. SVR, ...

That is ironic. But Octavius resigned as curator on March 19. That is why I'm one now! Now how is that for irony!

Hmmm....substitute Barack Obama for Rush Limbaugh and we might be more in alignment :D But let's not go there.... Well, I'm happy for him that he's doing well, though I do have to wonder why he just dropped out of NR as he did. Still, that's his choice and his business I guess. Maybe he just...

I once found an article from 2006 I think. making similar claims based on metallurgy. I did not read the article though. I sympathize with the contention that contaminents could botch the tests. This is a claim also made by Shroud of Turin devotees. I guess we will have to wait to see what the...

What is that blob in the last picture of Trajan's market?

I like all your pics! Did you get to go inside the Pompeii ampitheater?

And BTW...did you by any chance get any pics of the Isis temple in Pompeii?

I think the play itself is pretty bad. Andronicus could be said to be Shakespeare's attempt at a slasher/shocker. I did like some of the film though, especially at the neginning when Titus' army comes in.
