Smokeless

Three days without a cigarette! Chantix works well, but there are times when I want to pull out Marius' tonsils with my fingers...

The hardest times right now are moments of boredom and after meals. But aside from that, it has not been too bad. I just think of the money I will be saving!

"Welcome Home"

The commotion definitely subsiding, and the sight of Marius and the philosopher exiting the caupona without hindrance, gave Paulus courage to make his own exit. "Come with me", he said, taking Medusa by the arm and leading her away to the general direction of the ampitheater. Guiding h...

Re: New RP Discussion Thread

I think you are thinking of Caracalla who had geta co-rule with him for a while.

I know Marius was imagining it as being earlier, as did I, but my own opinion is Commodus reign would be good, since he had some plots against him going on in 182.

Ok...lets settle this with a vote.

Re: New RP Thread!

Paulus jerked his arm free from the slave's hand. "Keep your paws off me slave", he snarled. "Perhaps your master needs you to wipe his rear for him in the latrine, but I think I can walk without your help." Paulus was disgusted. A reasonable magistrate would have been satisf...

Re: New RP Discussion Thread

I inserted a parenthetical note in my last post, a reference to Paulus' 'boss' in Egypt, a Governor who was in the post from 115-117. No one else had written any more specific time references, so I took the liberty of placing our narrative in the first year of the Emperor Hadrian's reign. Howeve...

Re: Crucify Them !

But I do see a problem : what if you have just finished your chapter following up on the last one posted and just when you are about to submit, someone else beats you to the post and messes everything you've written up ? I suspect that's a bit what happened when Marius decided to go ballistic a co...

Enough is enough

OOC: With this post, I am using everyone's names in describing the action and the scene, though not in direct conversation until the characters have actually been introduced. It gets tedious to type out things like "the guy with the wine stained tunic" all the time! IC: With the arrival...

Sorry about the chair!

Paulus position face down on the floor was not comfortable, but it did give him a very good view of Medusa's toes. "this is not good" he groaned to himself as he slowly began to get up, making sure nothing was broken. Two against one, eh? Well, there may not be a victory in this, but ...

Re: New RP Discussion Thread

In addition to the chronology problem Iohannes mentioned, there is this when Aulus showed up: "Broken chairs and tables were scattered across the floor..." But no brawl has happened yet! Formosus fell to the floor, Paulus got thrown to the floor... But aside from Formosus overturning...

Re: New RP Thread!

Something had gone terribly wrong. Paulus had originally intended nothing more than a prank of the man with the stained tunic, as a way of making his aquaintance and that of his companions, and to try to ascertain whether the same guiding hand that brought him and Medusa together might also be at...

Re: New RP Discussion Thread

Quick note: Paulus didn't throw the wine into Iohannes face. He threw it into the faces of "the soldierl looking one" {Marius} and the "rougher" lokking one {Formosis, who I guess had gotten off the floor.} Maybe some of it hit Iohannes by accident? I can't wait to see how thi...

Re: New RP Discussion Thread

Hi all, I sent Pulla an email yesterday, and hope she's doing ok. It would get pretty awkward to keep her character around, not saying anything. So I thought best to have her flee from the caupona. If Pulla comes back, she can always resume the character and rejoin us anytime. As to the time f...

The Rubicon

It is amazing how fast the human mind can work in a moment of crisis. When Paulus beheld Medusa spilling the food, he took a moment to bury his face in his hand. "Oh, bloody hell" But within a moment, he had sized up the tactical situation thusly: Behind Paulus was a wall. Between hi...

Re: How have you all been doing?

Salve Draco! I guess we are all moving on tolderably well with life. For me it is work, a few furlough days without pay to help the state balance it's budget {LOL}. Marius as you can see is still running the place. And we have a new RPG threat going! Are you graduated yet? What is going on wi...

Fire

First, there was the fire. At first only licking at the walls and roofs of the village huts, but soon turning into infernos as the beast fed hungrily. Paulus felt the hot gusts which would keep him back from getting any closer. He heard screams, close, but echoing. Bodies of simple peasant farme...

The Lost Chapter

I am still kicking myself over losing my last entry in the RPG. It was so well written. Everyone's death was tragic. From the moment when the serving girl came running in screaming how the gladiators had revolted and were rampaging in the street, only to have an arrow shot through her skull, to...

Deleted Post

OOC: I promised Marius I would post tonight. And I did, only to lose it all when I hit submit and was taken to a screen to re-log in.
I am so POd and have no heart to retype it all right now, so I will make another attempt tomorrow night.

Ancient Worlds?

Is Ancient Worlds still visited by anyone here?

I remember the old Ancient Sites, and playing SPQR on the PC.
