Vesta & Hestia

SALVETE OMNES, S.V.B.E.V.

I was thinking of writing an article on Vesta, if the rector will have it, and I was wondering if some kind folks would point out some differences and similarities between Vesta and her Greek cousin.
Any help or guidance in this matter is appreciated.

The term Religio Romana

SALVETE OMNES, S.V.B.E.V.

Where does the term Religio Romana come from? Did the ancients use it, or is it a modern designation? If the latter, who came up with it?

L. Tyrrhenus Garrulus Cleopatræ Æliæ Salutem dicit. S.V.B.E.

I like the second one a lot more. Maybe because it is a forum, it generates much more content. The articles on the first are good, but the author needs to use ibid when quoting sources.

Look what I found

SALVETE OMNES, S.V.B.E.V.

Do we have some competition here, or possible allies?

Was it the end of the Empire as we knew it?

SALVETE OMNES, S.V.B.E.V.

When the last emperor called it quits, did Rome still possess any geo-political/military authority? If so to what extent, and for how long? Were there Romans who didn't know the Empire was no more?

Salve.

I see you're using SMF! Much better than phpBB. (A few too many options in the admin controls though.)
Looks like an interesting site.

Look at this

SALVETE OMNES, S.V.B.E.V.

Looks like there might actually be evidence of the founding date being more than mythical.

PRO DI IMMORTALES!

SALVETE OMNES. S.V.B.E.V.

We have two new aediles. I think everyone here should wish the best of luck to Tiberius Dionysius Draco and K. C. Duellianus.

SALVETE OMNES. S.V.B.E.V.

Latin, of course. I opt for effeciency. What takes us 10 words in English requires 3 or 4 in Latin.

The purpose of ...?

SALVETE OMNES. S.V.B.E.V.

Can anyone tell me the "moral of the story" behind Virgil's Aeneid? Or Ovid's Metamorphoses? What were these authors trying to accomplish? Spin a good yarn? Or was there a point to be made?
